HOPI NATION COVID SUPPORT & VOLUNTEER WEEKEND UPDATE

We are so grateful for your continued support for our Hopi kin during this pandemic. Thank you so much to those who have contributed with funds, shares, or prayers! Your love is felt! See photos below!

For the safety of all concerned, we have RESCHEDULED OUR PLANT AND BUILD WEEKEND FOR APRIL 17-18TH OF 2021. We know that so many of you have been looking forward to joining us for this! If you have already registered, we will be sending you an email this week with more information.

WHAT'S HAPPENING AT HOPI NATION?

COVID-19 cases are rising rapidly. Sadly, there are over 90 cases and some deaths in Hopi Shungopavi village where we work. In response, the clans we work with are reviving ancient protocols for times such as this - including a complete lockdown for at least two weeks. The drought and wind this year at Hopi Nation have limited the crops. Unemployment is high, underlying health conditions are ubiquitous, and there are many elderly and children. There are only three small markets on Hopi nation, and none are located in the village that will be locked down.

As you know, our indigenous communities have suffered from pandemics before - and are extremely vulnerable due to living situations on the nation and health issues. Hopi Nation is surrounded surrounded by Navajo Nation, which also has many confirmed cases of COVID-19.

We are committed to supplying one month of food and medical/PPE supplies to 50 families as they will be unable to travel to obtain supplies. We would love to be able to provide for up to 300 families if funds allow. We have already made 2 huge deliveries of supplies and also have supported some Hopi families with Covid in other areas.

Donations will be used to purchase items including:
hand sanitizer, gloves, masks, canned foods, fresh vegetables, toilet paper, diapers, wipes, cleaning supplies, rice, beans, oil, flour, bread, along with other essentials.

If you are in Sedona and would like to donate toys for the kids while they are in lockdown or cash donations, please message us for the address over facebook or email.

We are also supporting our ongoing projects -- the elders are socially-distanced planting, weaving, and working on developing the land and classes we already have underway. They are also working on creating Hopi language and plant wisdom tools. This is all made possible through your support. Excited to share more soon!

We know times are tough right now, every $5 or $10 helps, thank you so much for your generosity of heart & unity of spirit. ♥ STAY SAFE!!
