Ecuador

Program Description

Thousands of indigenous villagers live subsistence style lives in remote regions of Ecuador along the Amazon River. Families survive by fishing and trading. When the river floods, hundreds of people are unable to access food.

One Light Global is providing food for the indigenous community of Juyunintza, located in the Ecuadorian Amazon. These Shuar people are centered by a river and the rainy season has flooded their entire village. They aren’t able to hunt, fish, or access food and they need help.

We were able to provide families with enough food for a month, to tide them over until they are able to provide for themselves once more.  We are working with them to discover sustainable ways of providing for their community.
