In 2015, thousands of refugees fleeing war and devastation in Syria and Afghanistan began risking their lives to reach the EU via small Greek islands off the coast of Turkey. These families had experienced unimaginable horrors and suffering at the hands of warring factions, corrupt human smugglers, thieves, and religious extremists.
One Light Global met refugees on the beaches of Lesvos, guiding boats into shore and providing emergency supplies. We also worked tirelessly in camps to provide tents, water, food, warm clothing, tickets, medicine, emotional support and guidance to refugees abandoned by the global system.
In 2016, One Light Global returned to Greece, providing emergency aid in camps around Athens and on the Macedonia border.
