Hopi Eagle Dancer

Light of the Hopi is a rare collaboration between photographer Erika Rand and members of the Hopi tribe. 50% of proceeds from print sales go to the individuals and groups photographed.

With outstretched arms, we are so grateful! Thank you SO MUCH to all who supported and donated to our Giving Tuesday campaign to build a sustainable Elementary School and Elder Center in the Hopi Nation in Second Mesa, AZ. As our project will bring together youth and elder, modern and traditional, we can't help but reflect on the Oneness that will sustain it. YOU are part of that. Our collective Light, yours, ours, the Hopi Nation's, is essential for this groundbreaking project.

ON GIVING TUESDAY, YOU HELPED LAUNCH US OVER HALFWAY TO OUR GOAL OF $20,000 TO BEGIN BUILDING THIS SUSTAINABLE STRUCTURE!

It will be sustainable in many ways: The structure will be made using traditional methods and natural, local stone (rather than toxic cinderblock the Hopi have been forced to use in the past), coupled with modern, green technologies such as solar power. Also, the youth will participate in the construction itself, giving purpose, spiritual meaning and investment into the school in which they will actively become connected to the Elders in their community, re-lighting a history of oral tradition, sustainable wisdom, and generational connectedness of past, present, and future.

...this group effort includes the hearts, thoughts, prayers and gifts of all donors—each and everyone a part of this miraculous circle of giving and receiving. This project will allow the children to acknowledge all others within the whole and their own, individual, self-worth.
